Story Time: Help me, there’s someone in my house ceilings.

Have you ever wondered what made all those noises in your ceilings?... Rats? Ok, cool but not really since you have a rat infestation in your house.

People need shelter to protect themselves from the harsh elements of the outdoor but sometimes, living under a roof means that you're living under one roof with an uninvited tenant. This was a story that happened to the Wan's family. What once called home sweet home is now a resting place for the uninvited. The Wan’s family had just purchased a house at an old neighbourhood which is exactly next to Maxwell Hill. There’s nothing much going on except that the place was a little bit secluded from the town. When they reached there, it was noticeable that there were few houses that have not been occupied yet. They were greeted by Mrs Margaret, an old lady that lived few rows near them as they arrived.

“Welcome to the neighbourhood. Here, we keep everyone close”, Margaret said with a lovely smile on her face.

"Jeremy, come help Ah-pa carry this boxes". Jeremy's dad shouted from the back of the rented lorry. Those heavy boxes were swiftly placed into the house and it took them the whole day. Everyone got their own room and the Wan’s couldn’t be happier as Mr Wan finally made a breakthrough in life and can provide comfort for his family.

When the night has come and everyone tucked in bed, Jeremy’s slumber was interrupted by a noise just right above his bed. It’s almost as someone was talking in a low voice or whispering. Jeremy thought it was nothing and it’s just a product of his imagination but as soon as he shut his eyes, the ceiling rattled loudly. His eyes were wide open and his pupils dilated, shivers went down through his spine as he heard exactly someone said “People… Hate People”

Quickly he ran to his dad, “Pa, something’s in the ceiling”. Disbelieved with his son, Mr Wan asked his son to go back to sleep. Then, the rattling starts again but this time the thumping sound gets louder. “Kids, go to the room downstairs and lock the door”, Mr Wan and Jeremy went back upstairs and checked the ceilings. What they discovered above shocked them as they found blankets and rat bones scattered everywhere. The rat eating human has been living above them the whole time.

Mr Wan used the flashlight and pointed it towards the corner and there it was. The half-naked, hunched manlike creature turned his head and locked eyes directly with Mr Wan. “Bright light… Me Hate”, that thing screeched and charged towards Mr Wan. “Switch off lights… Switch off lights… Switch off lights”, that thing screamed while attacking Mr Wan. That thing managed to escape and run towards the hill. The Wan’s couldn’t forget what happened that night and still searching for answers until today. Since that day, there were no rattling in the ceilings and the Wan’s lived happily in peace as that would be the end of the nightmare-ish chapter in thier life.

Or so they thought.
